Research Computing Consortium

The South Carolina Research Computing Consortium (SCRCC) is a collaboration bringing together Clemson University, the University of South Carolina, Coastal Carolina University and the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL). Each organization offers high performance computing (HPC) resources for researchers in and beyond South Carolina. The consortium aims at increasing the awareness of the extensive high performance computing and research computing resources in South Carolina, and advancing the collaboration opportunities within these fields in the state. Since our booth’s inaugural year at SC25, we have grown from three to four partner institutions.

Highlights

Ongoing collaboration among our partners occurs through multiple research programs, including:

  • NSF Award Number:2242812; "AI-enabled Devices for the Advancement of Personalized and Transformative Healthcare in South Carolina (ADAPT in SC)”. $13,525,016.00; The program is led by Clemson University in partnership with Benedict College, The Citadel, Claflin University, College of Charleston, Francis Marion University, Medical University of South Carolina, South Carolina Research Authority, South Carolina State University, Tri-County Technical College, University of South Carolina, and Winthrop University. The vision is to build research capacity at the nexus of artificial intelligence (AI), life and social sciences, and bioengineering through fundamental research, education, workforce development, and industry partnerships to create next-generation biomedical devices that improve healthcare outcomes.
  • DOE Battelle Savannah River Alliance (BSRA) estimated at $3.8 billion over 10 years, with team members including Clemson University, University of South Carolina, Georgia Tech, South Carolina State University, and University of Georgia. This program protects the nation by providing practical, cost-effective solutions to the nation's environmental, nuclear security, nuclear materials management, and energy manufacturing challenges.
  • NIH 1DP2NS148060-01, and 1R01NS142877-01. $4M Dr. Jessica Larsen (Clemson) leads two grant awards in collaboration to regenerate nerves after injury. Her work is in collaboration with Professor Jeff Twiss of the University of South Carolina.
  • The South Carolina IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (SC INBRE) Program ($18.9M) represents a major multi-institutional collaboration involving many institutions, including Clemson University, University of South Carolina and Coastal Carolina University working together in a statewide biomedical research network funded by NIH.
